Operation: Outsource

31 March 2007

outsourcing peopleWelcome to day one of Operation: Outsource!

I call it that because it has become somewhat of a mission, not unlike a military operation. It involves prioritization, organization, discipline, teambuilding, delegation and systemization.

Those are a lot of daunting words, but what I will try to do here with you on this blog is simplify and clarify things so you can simply just get the job done in the simplest way possible.

Our focus here on this blog will be on outsourcing for Internet marketers.

What Is Outsourcing?

Simply stated, it just means paying someone else to do a job, or a project for you or your company, that is not an employee. It could be on a temporary basis or on a steady basis.

For decades, companies would outsource their bookkeeping or payroll. They didn’t have enough of that type of work to hire an internal employee with the expertise to do just those tasks, so they would outsource those tasks to people or companies that had a high level of skill to do those functions as needed.

In the context of Internet marketing, there is a wide variety of skills sets needed, and very few of us possess them all, so the most efficient way to get it done is to hire someone else to do the tasks we don’t do well, or that we don’t want to do. This could be Web design, copywriting, graphics, PPC, HTML, etc.

Why Outsource?

There are many reasons, but let me just list some for you as it pertains to Internet marketers:

We’ll get into all these reasons in more detail as we go, so check back often as I’ll be posting all kinds of resources, templates, videos and interviews so we can all get more done faster and cheaper, and have more time for family and friends!
