How To Choose And Implement KEYWORDs In Your Website Development

17 January 2010

I am sure you have heard of search engine optimisation services, also known as seo services. This is the process of driving targeted visitors to your online business web presence using appropriate keywords. But what about keyword phrases? Use them to bring in even more lucrative visitor traffic.

You will find keywords used in your headlines, content and elsewhere, designed to appeal to search engine robots. The engines employ robots to visit your website development once it is registered and to check on what you have within. If you select very specific words that your customers will likely specify when they look for your site, then your content will probably appear within the all-important primary page of results. This means that you will be the first link anyone sees for those words.

Website content is not just something for visitors to read. Rather, it is a good way to make sure that the correct visitors arrive at your site in the first place. It is very important that you use the right keywords across your site, so that you gain the acceptance of the search engines and become visible.

Doing your Homework.

You didn’t leave your homework behind when you finished school. In the world of business, you never stop learning if you want to go as far as the road will take you. To that end, it is time to do a little homework for your content – keyword research.

Don’t worry, you don’t have to be a research expert to be successful at this task. Keyword research is finding the words that will rank your content and your website head and shoulders above the rest. Are you ready? Let’s begin.

Conducting Keyword Research.

There are a few things that you can do:

1. Create a list of words. You must put yourself in the shoes of your customer. What words would you input to find you? Write down as many as you can. Even better, use an Excel spreadsheet or similar, as it would be easier to work with later. Choose single words and multiple word phrases.

2. Talk to your customers. You already have some customers. Use surveys to determine how they found you. If it was through an Internet search ask what words they used. Many business owners will look past this solution as it seems too easy, or they don’t ask the correct questions.

3. Keyword software tools are excellent. These tools can be very helpful once you have your list of possible keywords. The software will let you know a variety of things about your keywords and whether they are good enough to reach your target audience.

4. Analyse the data. From your list, whittle down to just the keywords that are likely to get you what you want. Now rank these keywords, first to last.

5. Try them out. Use them one at a time and always keep records of what you used and when. Website management tools help you to determine how each person used a keyword or phrase and what they did as a consequence, also known as a means of assessing conversion rates.

So, are you ready? You obviously already use content, but maybe it isn’t working well enough. Make your content work by using keywords well.
